Guide on Choosing the Right Event Displays

The use of an LED screen nowadays is no longer just for advertisements and home viewing. They are now prominently used in different kinds of events including concerts, weddings, trade and exhibits. The acronym LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. These screens are made of electroluminescent diodes and use the colour space RGB (Red, Green, Blue). This RGB is what creates millions of colours, and is an important parameter of any LED Screen. RGB pixels are digitally-controllable lights that can be set to any color, or animate. Each RGB LED and controller chip is molded into a ‘dot’ of silicone. The dots are weatherproof and rugged. This is what gives screens the colour saturation for vibrant displays.

When you need to hire event LED screens, you have to choose the right parameters to suit your needs. Here are some tips to help you:

Screen resolution

One of the most important factors in choosing an LED screen is the resolution. You don’t want to hire an LED screen for your event and find that it’s not viewable by all the intended audience. Resolution, also called pitch, is the density of spacing in a LED screen. It affects the quality of the media being presented. When a screen has bad resolution, you’ll get a more sloppy display as the further away you are from the screen.

Hence, if you are organizing an event for a spacious area, you should go for the LED screen with the best resolution. Ask your supplier about the screen resolutions they offer and which one would suit the scale of your planned event.

LED type

Depending on whether your event will be indoor or outdoor, you need to think about what type of LED screen to hire. As there are several types of diodes available, it is best to understand which ones are suitable for specific situations. There are DIP LED screens which are mostly used for outdoor displays. There are also SMD LED screens which are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Screen brightness

The screen brightness is also an important factor to consider, especially for events that will be held outdoors. You don’t want your displays to disappear in the strong glare of the sun. Keep in mind that the standard brightness for outdoor screens should oscillate at around 5000-7000cd/m2. If you need higher brightness for your outdoor displays, ask your supplier for one that oscillates at around 8000-12000cd/m2. On the other hand, screen oscillation of 700-2500cd/m2 should be enough for your indoor display needs.

LED screen purpose

When hiring an event LED screen, you should also take into consideration what your purpose is for any specific display. Do you need them to be movable? If so, consider hiring a mobile screen. Does your event location have irregular spaces? Then an LED curtain would be the best choice for this situation as this type of LED installation is perfect to be hung on any structure, because they are lightweight. You can ask your supplier for soft or rigid installation.

If you need great visuals all around your event, consider an LED floor, or interactive displays. These can be synchronised with other multi-media displays to give your audience a fantastic, and attractive visual. Be sure to pay attention to the area where you intend to install the screens.
